Strategy and Michael Saylor: Bitcoin accumulation saga
Michael Saylor and Strategy have signaled renewed Bitcoin accumulation while Strategy’s ledger still lists 847,666 BTC. On Oct. 4 Saylor posted “More orange than ever.” alongside a chart of Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases, prompting market speculation that further buying may have occurred; the post itself did not disclose a transaction size, date, or price.
Earlier filings and reports show confirmed recent purchases: 1,665 BTC acquired for $142.7 million in the week ended Sept. 27, and a prior 950 BTC purchase for $75.7 million. Aggregate acquisition cost across Strategy’s holdings is reported around $63.945–63.95 billion, with an average purchase price near $75,400–$75,437 per BTC. At reported market levels this places the position’s market value near $72.29 billion.
Strategy’s SEC disclosures also note $18.84 billion of remaining capacity under its MSTR at-the-market program, a $5.02 billion USD reserve and roughly $1 billion in separate USD cash. The company’s dashboard listed an mNAV ratio of 1.18x and an MSTR price cited at $159.11.
A short notice on Oct. 5 then reported that Strategy bought 334.3 BTC for $29 million. That purchase, if confirmed by subsequent regulatory updates or dashboard entries, would fit the recent pattern of weekly buys; previous filings showed some purchases funded by MSTR share sales, but the Oct. 4 social post alone did not constitute a formal disclosure.
