NEAR Intents exploit and cross-chain service fallout
NEAR Intents reported a security incident that led to a preliminary loss of about $3.8 million and pledged full compensation for affected users. The flaw arose from how Omni’s deposit/withdrawal infrastructure interacted with the NEAR Intents smart contract; the contract-side issue has been patched. Services were paused and the incident was reported to law enforcement.
On-chain investigator ZachXBT flagged unusual outflows from a BNB Chain hot wallet used for withdrawals, and reported that stolen funds were routed to KuCoin and converted into Bitcoin. Deposits and withdrawals remain suspended for roughly 12 hours on 11 networks (BNB Chain, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, X Layer, ADI, Scroll, Plasma). NEAR briefly fell about 8.6% amid the news. NEAR Intents said it will resume core services soon and publish a full technical report.
